Important Information For Members

Tax Receipts for Hospital and Home Care Plan for 2017

As a convenience to insured members and their spouses, Manulife will be making tax receipts available online this year. They will be sending an email to insured members and/or spouses to the email address on file. The email will provide a link and instructions to follow to enable members to download their tax receipts. Tax receipts will be mailed to members and/or spouses where there is no email address on file. If a member and/or spouse wishes to have a tax receipt mailed to them rather than download one, they can request this by calling the Customer Service toll-free telephone number (1-800-268-3763) and speak with a Customer Service Representative.

Cora Bailey Award Winner 2017

CORA   BAILEY   AWARD

WINDSOR-ESSEX                        2017          AREA 3

Nancy MacDonald on the left receiving the Cora Bailey Award from Mary O’Neail

Nancy MacDonald has been a member of the Windsor/Essex RWTO/OERO for over twenty years. She serves on the Goodwill Committee with countless visits to hospitals and members’ homes with a cheerful Irish smile and touching words. She also spends countless hours writing personal messages in cards to our Special ladies.

When one of our members passes on, Nancy organizes a very meaningful “Service of Tribute” for the deceased member, which provides much comfort to the remaining family members and friends.

Not only does Nancy get involved with RWTO/OERO affairs, she is also very active in the community. How often has one of us, attending a function, a meeting, a concert, a banquet or out shopping when our conversation is interrupted by a “Hi Nancy” and a wave from one of her countless committee friends!

As a young girl Nancy was a member of the Girl Guides and continues today to be a very active participant. She serves on the Parish Council of her church and always finds time to help out at their various activities, especially the Church Bazaar. Nancy puts her artistic talents to work at the annual Book Sale Table with an attractive display of books. A must stop for everyone.

Family is also very important to Nancy as she is the “unofficial” historian. Her family consists of two brothers (one deceased), two sisters and numerous cousins in Canada and the United States.

Sixty-two years ago, Corpus Christie High School (Brennan High School today) opened amalgamating St. Clare High School for girls and St Joseph’s High School for boys. Today more than twenty former classmates of St. Clare meet socially with Nancy for monthly luncheons.

All in all, Nancy is certainly most deserving of the Cora Bailey Award and I am delighted and honoured to be able to present this award to her.

Burton, Edna F. (nee Fox)

April 12,1924 – January 2, 2018 at the age of 93

The anchor of Edna’s life was her steadfast faith in Christ Jesus as Lord and Saviour. Today, our mother truly rests in peace. She was born the devoted daughter of Stanley and Anna Fox of Kingsville Ontario. Edna was predeceased by her husband of 62 years Bob Burton. Daughters Martha Chobrda (Steve) and Karen Wilcox (Rob) were tremendously blessed to have such a mother. All children brought joy to Edna, but none more so than her grandchildren Mandy Johnson (Steve), Jeremy Chobrda, Theron Chobrda, Grant Wilcox, Mitchell Wilcox and greatgrandchildren Jessica Johnson, Seth Chobrda, Adam Johnson and Sarah Johnson.

Edna began her teaching career with the Essex County District School Board in a one room school house at the age of 19 and worked in the profession she loved for 38 years. She embraced teaching and was never more comfortable than when surrounded by the precious children in her classroom. Edna was a graduate of the University of Western Ontario which was an enormous accomplishment for a woman from her era.

Following retirement, Edna dedicated many years volunteering at Leamington District Memorial Hospital as a porter. She always saw the best in others and, without fail, extended patience, gentleness, generosity, kindness and forgiveness to all.
