ANNIVERSARY
BOOK PROJECT
Chalk, Challenge, and Change
Stories from Ontario Women Teachers
1920-1979
Stories gathered from
senior members of
the Retired Women Teachers of Ontario capture the heritage and
history
of classrooms across the province. The storytellers are all over
90 years of age - some over 100, and their stories take us into the
classrooms of the past. They tell about hiring and firing,
struggles and celebrations, and the rewards of teaching under
conditions that were often challenging. Vintage photos add
another dimension to the book
In celebration of the 50th Anniversary of RWTO, this book honours the
teachers who have dedicated so many years of their lives to
educating the young people of Ontario.
The publication had its official
launch at the Annual Convention.
To order a copy of the
book by mail, please send a cheque for $20.00 + $8.00 shipping, payable

RWTO ARCHIVES (Archivist Jeannine Renaud)
In 1999 the early records of RWTO were placed in the
archives of York University in Toronto, and have been supplemented
since then by ongoing transfers. The records, almost five feet of
written documents, include minutes of the board, executive, branch and
annual meetings, scrapbooks, clippings, photos, reports, correspondence
and administrative files. York University has inventoried the
documents, and the list is available through the website of the Clara
Thomas Archives at:
http://archivesfa.library.yorku.ca/...
Access to these records is available through the Reading
Room of the Clara Thomas Archives during regular hours and by special
arrangement at other times. Staff are available to answer
questions from the records, and arrangements can be made to photocopy
or digitize documents required to support chapter activities.
NOMINATIONS
Nominations for Executive and Board for 2007-8 positions as advertised
in the November newsletter must be submitted by January 31, 2008.

GOODWILL
A major role of the Goodwill Convenor is linked directly to our motto
of "Caring and Sharing". Throughout the year she sends greeting
cards to our many members who are over ninety years old, and flowers to
each one who celebrates her one hundredth birthday. Branches can
be of assistance in ensuring that no one is missed by confirming that
the ages of their more senior members have been included in the
Membership Database. Further information can be obtained from this
year's Goodwill Convenor, Mary Jane Finn.

This website has been updated in July, 2006 with new information and
