Orillia Branch 6
The Orillia Branch consists of 52 retired teachers that enjoy meeting once a month for food and
fellowship at St Andrew’s, Presbyterian Church on Peter Street.
This year our meetings will begin on Mon. Sept.18th, and we will welcome the Daisy Wilson
Coldwater Branch to join us for a ”Pot Luck” luncheon. Lois Lockhart, the RWTO President will
also visit us that day along with Marilyn Bansci our new Area 6 Director.
Orillia has the unique opportunity of celebrating 150yrs with Canada this year. It is the only city
that was formed in Canada in 1867. RWTO is planning some special events around this
occasion and will provide some speakers and stories at the meetings. Our project is to collect
150 items for our local Womens Shelter.
The Orillia Branch raises money through an auction held at their November Meeting, to support
Big Brothers, Big Sisters. This has become an annual event and we look forward to it every
year. At each meeting we also have a “Share the Wealth”draw with proceeds designated to our
local food bank.
In December our group has a catered Christmas dinner at a local Church. It is always enjoyable
and helps out the Church as well. This year we will have a fun Photo Booth for the members
and will be entertained by “The School Belles”, our own musical group. Check out our pictures
on the RWTO website.
We meet again in April and our topic will be about our local Hospice and in May we will be
educated by a local photographer artist.
In June we celebrate the end of year by going out for lunch and enjoying some light
entertainment.
.
We also have a “Lunch Bunch” group that meet for lunch once a month in different restaurants
about town. Small interest groups are formed as the need arises.
Orillia is an active vibrant group of Retired Teachers who look for ways to help children and the
community.

RWTO – Orillia Words
In Orillia and surroundings we have me to for sixty years.
And our auctions raised some money to donate
To the boys and Girls club locally (it seemed the thing to do)
Since those children often several years do wait.
Now our School Belles sing for seniors and they practice week by week.
At our meetings they will entertain us too.
In orange and black we sometimes dress when time to celebrate
And we often hear from speakers who are new.
