RWTO’s 60th Birthday, May 2016
The Retired Women Teachers of Ontario celebrated the 60th anniversary of the organization with a birthday party at the Old Mill. The Provincial President of the RWTO, Dianne Rice from Sarnia, was the guest speaker at the meeting held prior to lunch. She spoke about Rendezvous’ involvement in organizing RWTO over 60 years ago. Other guests of honour included the Rendezvous Branch “over 90s” who continue to be active. We all enjoyed a wonderful lunch from the Old Mill’s famous buffet.
Membership fees for RWTO/OERO will be sent to the Provincial office this week. Please pay DeHavilland B.
The Rendezvous Branch will meet on Monday October 15th at 10:30 at Artisano’s Bakery on Islington Ave. for “The Coffee is on Us”. Please join us for a free coffee, business and chat.
Annual General Meeting
Jean F H and Doris B were our delegates at the convention. We enjoyed the pool and excursions and were entertained at dinner. Our Branch, “I’d Rather Not Do Housework”, raffle back pack went for a good price and gave ladies several options that are much more fun than dusting. Jean S missed the fun as she was recovering from a bad fall.
Jeanne R. celebrated her 101st birthday with a dinner for family and friends. Congratulations Jeanne! It was great to have lunch together last week.
Clara L, 106, who lives in Scarborough has many memories of teaching in the 50’s and 60’s.
Squares into Blankets
We continue to collect the squares you have been knitting and crocheting for Squares to Blankets. Doris B. is completing the blankets and delivering them to local charities such as Salvation Army and Linus Foundation.
We are so sorry to tell you that Stella Lachoski passed away early this month. She had been in poor health but attended her Grandson’s wedding just a few weeks ago. Stella was a Past President of Rendezvous Club and a contributing and loyal member of RWTO/OERO. Stella was always ready to help at meetings and share her experiences in discussions.
