This was our first luncheon of 2023.
Robert Pio Hajjar was our speaker on his recent book, I Love My Life. He explained that when he was 2 days old the doctor told his parents that as a Down’s syndrome baby he would be unable to walk, talk or learn anything and should be put in an institution. His parents ignored that advice and consequently Robert has led a very productive life as outlined in his book. He recognized the contribution teachers made in his success in life.
Area 3 Director Lynn Sulman spoke to the group and urged us to continue our work of “Sharing and Caring”.
After Jane Williams announced the Branch Financial report with a healthy balance, members voted to donate $2,000 to address homelessness in London.
We also welcomed Jane Roy of the London Food Bank and were pleased to present her with a cheque for $2,000 from the Branch as well as the donation of canned goods.
