Upper Canada East gathered at St. Andrew- Knox Presbyterian church on Wed. Nov.22nd, for a delicious turkey dinner with all the trimmings, even plum pudding with a yummy sauce! Many guests were welcomed, monetary gifts for the local food banks were collected and all were encouraged to participate in the book exchange. Members had an opportunity to taste a variety of special treats originating from different cultures. Christmas labels were given out and each member was asked to send a Christmas card to the name on the label. The humour lady, MaryEllen Garlough brought much laughter and joy to our gathering with her cute, thought-provoking stories and jokes. The Vernon Ukulele group led by Sharon Baird graciously came to entertain us. What a delightful way to get us all into the spirit of Christmas by participating with kazoos and beautiful voices during their sing-along portion of the program. Many of the ladies went home with some lovely Christmas gift-sharing items. Thanks to the Spencerville/Kemptville/South Mountain group who donated these gifts.
