April 2024 luncheon

April 25,2024 | London-Middlesex

The luncheon at the Lamplighter Inn on Wellington Rd Sout was well attended on a lovely sunny day. There was quite a buzz of conversation as friends greeted one another and caught up on news. As always, the tickets for the 50/25/25 Draw were available from the sales ladies in the room and there was brisk business at the “previously read and enjoyed” book table.
Our speaker was the local well-known and gifted photographer Richard Bain who has published many picture books of land and water scenes in and around London and nearby cities. He also showed some of the portrait pictures he has taken of celebrities for their books. His most recent book “Shared Waters – London Listens” was available for sale and was given as a door prize.
In other business members were introduced to a new member, thanks were given to the craft ladies who had provided another Spring table decoration, and members were reminded that they could pay for next month’s luncheon which will be the last one until September, and also pay for next year’s Membership which has increased to $55.00.
Monies were collected this month for the Education Fund & Kiwanis Award Recipients – the amount will be announced next month. Pat Savage asked for nominations for the Shining Star Award which is given to members who have been actively volunteering for our Branch and in the community. Dr Donna Kotsopoulos was present to receive a cheque from the Branch for the Faculty of Education’s Outreach program helping students and families in need.
