Carol Morningstar, ARTC, B.A., Teacher Training, Cora Bailey Award 2023-2024

March 26,2024 | Niagara Falls

After completing her qualifications to teach in the Primary and Junior Divisions, Carol taught music and homeroom at various elementary schools with the District School Board of Niagara. She also acquired further qualifications in Special Education and Librarianship. What did Carol enjoy most about teaching? Definitely the students! Carol retired in June 2017 and joined the Niagara Falls branch of RWTO/OERO in September 2017. As branch Secretary from 2020 to 2024, Carol participated actively in Executive discussions and used her excellent organizational and communication skills to write comprehensive minutes for Executive and membership meetings. As well, at one branch luncheon, Carol presented her inspirational “The Story of a Heart Transplant,” a truly moving experience for our members. In 2022, Carol became Area 13 Director for 2022-2024, a demanding role that she filled admirably. As Carol says, the most rewarding aspect of being Area 13 Director was “meeting wonderful ladies in the various branches and on the provincial board. So much experience, talent, and just plain fun!”

In addition to her service to the Niagara Falls branch, Carol supports the larger community through her volunteer work with the Trillium Gift of Life Network, Community Services, and FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre. She also enjoys curling, riding her e-bike around our beautiful Niagara Region, travelling with her husband Dave, and enjoying family time with her son Derek, daughter Andrea, and grandchildren Owen and Mya. The Niagara Falls branch is fortunate to have such an energetic, dedicated member.
