In Memoriam – Judith Campbell

April 27,2026 | Cambridge

Judy Campbell joined the Cambridge RWTO in 2018 where she actively participated in the genealogy club. The group photo below shows Judy with her genealogy buddies.

Judy passed away suddenly on April 27, 2026, at Cambridge Memorial Hospital in her 85th year, with her devoted husband of 64 years, Mervyn, lovingly by her side.
Judy and Mervyn shared a remarkable life together, raising four daughters and creating a home filled with love, faith, laughter, and unwavering support. They instilled in their family the values of kindness, generosity, respect for others, lifelong learning, and a deep love for the Lord.
Judy’s passion for teaching began at the age of 15 when she entered Stratford Teachers’ College directly from Grade 12. There she met Mervyn, the love of her life. After graduating, she taught all eight grades in a one-room schoolhouse in Underwood. Following their marriage in 1961, Judy and Mervyn enjoyed teaching together in another one-room school in Kinloss before the school policy of the day required her to leave the classroom when she became pregnant. Although family became her first priority, Judy returned to teaching whenever she could, embracing every opportunity to do what she loved.
After moving to Preston and later settling in Galt, Judy continued her teaching career at Riverside Elementary School and several other schools in the area. A dedicated educator and lifelong learner, she spent many summers upgrading her qualifications to better serve her students. She was honoured to be one of four teachers chosen to pioneer the introduction of computers into local classrooms and enthusiastically mentored fellow educators as they embraced this exciting new technology.
Judy completed her distinguished career as Teacher-Librarian at Hespeler Public School, retiring in 1995. She will be remembered as a caring teacher, an inspiring mentor, and a woman whose love of learning enriched the lives of countless students, colleagues, and family members.
