Making reusable bags for 70 Sisters’ Project

April 20,2026 | London-Middlesex

Sharon Lunau conceived the idea to make reusable cloth bags used to hold gift items for the 70 Sisters’ Project. After approval from the L-M executive, she created 68 kits of fabric to go out to 4 volunteer sewers.
The RW members who answered her call for volunteers were Jane Williams, Julia Ballem, Jennifer Jolliffe and Deb Owens. Jennifer and Deb added some of their own fabric to create 8 more bags. A grand total of 76 reusable cloth bags were made (the extras will be offered to the Book Table folks to carry books to our luncheon meetings).
In the kit was included a pattern and cloth sufficient to make bags that will hold the personal items for the 70 Mothers in the Community. Our Branch partnered with the London-Middlesex Housing Chaplaincy – which oversees social housing across the city – this organization has selected the mothers who will receive the bags which will be delivered in time for Mother’s Day in May.
