September 2025 Luncheon

September 25,2025 | London-Middlesex

At our first luncheon of the 2025-26 year, there was a very large turnout of members and guests which was a good start to the year.
Our speaker Patsy Day, Haudenosaunee, spoke about her childhood life caught up in the sixties scoop and being fostered by several white families, her love of learning and school being the only bright spot in her life and then being helped by a co-worker’s family and ultimately being reunited with her large and loving indigenous family.
It was a very timely reminder of what the Truth and Reconciliation Commission addressed about the abuses so many indigenous peoples have suffered in Noth America as we are close to “orange shirt day – every child matters”, September 30th.
Our Outreach for this month was the “Kaswentha Two Row Now” group. Patsy explained the origin of “Two Row” when treaties were being signed between settlers and native peoples who were on the land. The Kaswentha group offers leadership workshops for young women, we raised $795.00 for them.
Two new members were introduced, Linda Gaudet and Jean Hewitt and several more new members will be introduced in the next two or three months. Lynda Faulkner announced a healthy bank balance as dues are being paid this month. Thanks were given to Irene Gauvin and her committee for the lovely Autumn table decorations – we are so lucky to have such talented members!
The Share the Wealth Draw gave two lucky women who bought tickets $117.50 each and three lucky members won the draw for a gift bag.
