Our 2023-24 Luncheon Program began on September 28th at the Riverbend Golf Community clubhouse. Our speaker was Donna Kotsopoulos, Dean of the Faculty of Education. She spoke eloquently of the need for teachers to be aware of students at risk of failing or dropping out of school due to poverty or other causes. The faculty and student teachers are very much involved in an outreach program to help such students in our wider community of schools.
Our RWTO outreach program in September was to support the Women’s Rural Resource Centre in Strathroy and Area by bringing paper goods, personal items, or by making a cash contribution. As usual there was a very large donation of items and money that was made to the Centre following the luncheon.
In addition to our speaker, this year the Program included a memorial to our members who had passed away in 2023. After giving a brief speech about the member, a chrysanthemum was placed in a vase with a white rose.
