Trip to the Galapagos

March 25,2026 | Owen Sound and Area

Our lastest RWTO General meeting was held on March 25. We were very fortunate to have our RWTO Provincial president, Linda Sargeant join us. She delighted us with her sense of humour as she brought greetings from the executive. Linda gave us a sneak peek of this year’s 70th RWTO Provincial Convention being held on the campus of UWO in London ON. in June. It sounds like it’s going to be wonderful.
After the business part of our meeting and a very enjoyable Easter lunch, we heard a talk on the Galapagos. One of our members, Rebecca Hlynialuk and her husband John made a trip there in 2020. John talked of the vegetation and wild life of the islands and steps to maintain the unique ecosystem. Giant tortoises can be seen roaming the islands while sea iguanas scamper over lava rocks and birds and sea lions wonder the beaches and streets. But as tourism increases the islands have challenges to make sure that the islands thrive.
