UCE Spring Luncheon

April 17,2024 | Upper Canada East

UCE held its’ Spring Luncheon at St. John’s United Church in Cardinal yesterday. What better way to start the spring season than to meet friends on such a beautiful day, enjoy their company, and be introduced to so many new varieties of herbs and plants? A delicious meal was prepared by the members of St. John’s church for the 43 ladies to enjoy. Birthdays were celebrated by singing and receiving lovely carnations. Much laughter was had by all when the Humour lady chose selections about seniors. A wonderful presentation was given by Koren Manneck of Broker Farms north of Iroquois, Ontario. She created two recipes and one peppermint tea using the freshly grown herbs and encouraged us to go up and taste them. She also provided information on different varieties of herbs and plants available at her greenhouses. Many members took the opportunity to purchase these herbs and flowers that Koren had grown and brought especially for our gathering. Two ladies were fortunate to receive a $25 gift certificate to shop at Broker Farms, provided by Koren. Following the delightful tasting and buying session, many items were delivered to those who participated in the gift-sharing. Thanks to all who participated and worked so hard to ensure that this first Spring gathering was an enjoyable, successful event!
Members were reminded that our next meeting will be at St. John’s Anglican Church in Prescott on June 19th. All are welcome to attend.
